House of Delegates

ADA's governance structure defines the role of the Board of Directors as governing the organization and the House of Delegates as governing the dietetics profession. The number of Delegates are assigned to affiliates based on membership. The North Carolina Dietetic Association has one Delegate elected to the represent members in the HOD and to serve on the NCDA Board of Directors. From ADA's House to Yours

Proposed ADA Bylaws Amendments - Member Input Requested
The ADA Nominating Committee submitted a request for a Bylaws amendment. The HOD Leadership Team reviewed the request and approved proceeding with an amendment. The amendment would reduce the number of members on the Nominating Committee from 14 to 10. (Article VII, Section 1 Nominating Committee, 1a Number, Qualifications and Tenure).
The required 45-day member comment period runs from February 11 to March 31, 2010. Members are encouraged to review the proposed amendments (see link to Speaker Message #27 below) and provide feedback. Please send comments, name, state and practice area to hod-bylawsamendments@eatright.communityzero.com.

Spring 2010 HOD Meeting - Member Input Needed
Delegate Tracey Bates, MPH,RD,LDN will represent NCDA at the spring HOD meeting May 1-2, 2010. The two mega issues to be discussed are Health and Nutrition Literacy and Management and Leadership Across Practice. Please provide feedback on the mega issue questions by completing the NCDA member survey by April 23.


HOD Update - Nutritional Genomics and Nutrition Informatics
The HOD prioritized gaps related to Nutritional Genomics were identified during the Fall 2008 dialogue session. The top two prioritized gaps are education and research. The list is available for member review and has been shared with ADA organizational units to incorporate into their plan of work and budget for FY2011.

The ADA Board of Directors has approved the final report of the Nutrition Informatics Workgroup. A Nutrition Informatics Committee will be established by June 1, 2010 to assist in implementation of the workgroup recommendations and provide future direction for the Association on this key issue for the profession.

Do you have a concern? Do you have an issue? ADA wants to hear about it. The House of Delegates adopted the Issues Management Process to address member questions, concerns and issues. An Issues Management Committee provides education, oversight and direction to the issues management process. To submit an issue or concern to the ADA Issues Management Committee, please email issuesmgmt@eatright.org. Detail your issue and what you would like to see happen. A response will be sent within 10 business days.
