Upcoming GDDA Meetings and Events - Mark Your Calendar...

Action Needed: Urgent Date

Dear GDDA Members:

Please contact your city council person.

See below for details.

The transportation bond proposal was passed by voters earlier this year, but now city council members need to hear from you directly. At issue are projects for sidewalks and greenway development, among many others, which are at risk for being either delayed or cancelled due to the current economic situation.

The bottom line is that city taxes could increase by about 2 cents. That could mean approximately an extra $50 per year for the owner of a $200,000 home.

Information including a sample letter, how to contact your council person, and news articles follow:

Detailed information about each of the bond projects including greenway and sidewalk project plans can be found at: http://www.greensboro-nc.gov/departments/GDOT/streetimprovementbonds/projects.htm

NCDA - Just Do 2 Campaign!

The NCDA would like to invite all Registered Dietitians and Dietetic Technicians, Registered, to "Just Do 2".

Please join us in launching our "Just Do 2" kick off starting September 1, 2008 through January 31, 2009. This campaign encourages dietetics professionals to volunteer at least "2" hours of their time in a variety of ADA, NCDA, and/or District nutrition-related activities.

The "Just Do 2" campaign is designed to motivate us as dietetic professionals to become more involved in local professional associations and our communities. We also would like to recognize those individuals that take the time to do their "2".

With this campaign there will be a district competition to see which district has the highest percentage of dietetic professionals that have logged in their "2" hours. The winning affiliate district will be announced at the Annual NCDA conference in April 2009. Each individual member that has logged in their "2" hours will receive a Certificate of Appreciation and an Employer Letter will be sent to your place of employment.

If you would like to learn more about the "Just Do 2" campaign and what is happening in your area/district, please click here, visit the NCDA website at www.eatrightnc.org or download the file below.
