What: As a special treat for National Nutrition Month, GDDA will be hosting a career/networking night at the Undercurrent downtown. Join your colleagues to learn more about a variety of unique jobs in dietetics. Hear directly from a panel of your peers about their experiences--challenges, barriers, vision for the future...it's up to you to ask the questions and direct the conversation. 'Weekend Warrior' Mini-Nutrition Support Traineeship

The University of Virginia Health System presents the 'Weekend Warrior' Mini-Nutrition Support Traineeship.
This program covers a variety of issues in nutrition support, including enteral and parenteral nutrition, fluid and electrolytes, feeding the obese patient, feeding the post surgical patient and more.

Healthy Kids Day
When: Sunday, April 25th from 2-5 pm
Where: Grasshopper's Stadium (and adjoining streets)
What: Last year, many of you represented your agency or organization at this event, which was held in Center City Park. This year Healthy Kids Day is Bigger and Better!
It will include a fun walk for kids, physical activities provided by YMCA staffers AND the first 500 people who attend will get a pass to the Grasshopper's game at 4 pm that day! Participants will be required to visit multiple tables and have a card punched at each one, which they can redeem for their passes to the game.
Join again this year by providing educational materials, incentives, healthy foods, and activities about health for children. Please let Get Healthy Guilford know if you plan to participate by March 15th so that they can make sure you have a table reserved.

SNAP Workshop: Sugar Is Not a Poison, Presented by Vanderbilt Diabetes Research & Training Center

What: The Dietitian's Role in Diabetes Management: A Diabetes Workshop for Dietitians.
Speakers:
Dianne Davis, RD, LDN, CDE - has extensive experience in intensive management of type 1, type 2 and gestational diabetes as well as health promotion and weight management.
Becky Gregory, MS, RD, LDN, CDE - has many years of experience in clinical management of patients with type 1, type 2 and gestational diabetes.
This 2-day 'hands-on' workshop is designed to prepare dietitians for their role as an integral part of the diabetes team.
The workshop provides guided exercises that simulate patient encounters.
Topics covered include:
- alternative meal planning strategies
- strategies for nutrition with meds
- working with blood glucose records
- a systematic approach to helping patients with behavior change
The workshop has been presented to 1081 registered dietitians in 32 locations since it began in 1994.
Cost: $260 for normal registrants; $315 for late registrants
CEU hours: 13 hours
