Nutrition Legislation and Policy

If dietetics is your profession, politics is your business! Support for nutrition is not only good public policy, it
is good politics.

Members of the Dietetic Association at the national, state and local level have the opportunity to be involved in
lobbying and advocacy efforts at all tiers of political office. Members of the American Dietetic Association, NC
Dietetic Association as well as local District Affiliates should urge consumers and lawmakers to learn about the
positive and effective role nutrition plays in healthy lifestyles as well as disease management and treatment. For both individuals and society, the benefits of eating right and exercising include improved qualities of life and lower health-care costs.
