Leading the dietetics profession in North Carolina
The North Carolina Dietetic Association (NCDA) is one of 50 state affiliates of the American Dietetic Association.
NCDA's more than 1,600 members are Registered Dietitians (RD)s, Dietetic Technicians, Registered (DTR)s and dietetics students.
A registered dietitian (RD) is a food and nutrition professional. RDs separate fact from fad, and translate the latest scientific findings into easy to understand information you can use to enhance your health and well-being.
The initials "RD" after a person's name signifies that he or she has completed a minimum of a bachelor's degree granted by an accredited college or university and approved experience program. RDs must successfully pass a national credentialing exam and by complete ongoing continuing professional development.
North Carolina requires that Dietitians/Nutritionist practicing in the state be licensed. Only state-licensed dietetic professionals can provide nutrition counseling.
