"Improving Nutrition Status: A Quality Improvement Project at Levine Children's Cancer and Blood Disorders Specialty Group"

Lecture Summary: This presentation will review current nutrition-related gaps in care for pediatric patients of the LC-CBD specialty group and the role the dietitian plays in malnutrition risk reduction. It will then highlight the importance of providing a standardized approach to addressing malnutrition through the development of a feeding protocol.

The Academy's activities and successes in such areas as public policy and advocacy, malnutrition, media outreach and scientific research are addressed.

"Summer Nutrition for Children: We All Have a Role to Play!"

Lecture Summary: Only about 16% of North Carolina's economically disadvantaged children who depend on school lunch participate in Federal Summer Nutrition Programs during 2019. Regardless of practice area, RDNs, NDTRs, and dietetics students can all play a role in helping to address child food insecurity during the summer. Participants will receive an overview of the Summer Nutrition Program and its health, academic and overall benefits for children and their families.
